In my continuing quest for the Pulitzer Prize in investigative journalism, I’ve been rambling around country roads again, climbing over banks and tiptoeing behind empty old houses, unearthing the hidden scandals and secret stories of outhouses…..where in this episode I discover…..
….that love means…..
….never having to go alone.

Hi Suzanne, I was just introduced to your blog by my sister, Heather Here. Am reading your blog and so far admiring your brave move back to homeland. Eleven years ago we moved, albeit only 20 miles, back down the bayou to my husband’s native land. We are now in a flood zone due to the rapidly disappearing Louisiana wetlands, and our home flooded for Hurricane Rita, but I am deeply rooted here with webbed feet and cypress knees! Looking forward to delving deeper into your mind and blog. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll convert me to a romance novel reader! Please stop by and see me any time at bayouwoman.wordpress.com

ROTFL! I’ve used a few outhouses in my life, but I’d pass on sharing the space, thanks.
BTW, you call that winter? Gees…There’s not a flake of snow around! I’m so envious. We must have had *another* 5 to 6 inches yesterday, plus it’s -20C with the windchill this morning. (No way I’d be sitting my butt down on an outhouse seat today!)
Stay warm everyone!

Love the outhouse. We too looked high and low for one. We used ours as a garden shed in our backyard. Only a one seater. Love ‘em.

I’m enjoying your outhouse pictorial. Just don’t go spelunking or anything.

I’ve seen your site and finally checked it out today. Glad I did! Will visit regularly! I also plan on checking out your Dandelion site because I’ve started my own blog.
Good luck to you!

At least the seats are seperated. Our double-seater was just one long board.

Suzanne,
I love your blog. Having been born in the country (Campbell, Missouri - population 1883) but raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I can relate, but…who knew it got so cold in West Virginia? Just the thought of going to the outhouse when it’s below freezing makes me squirm.

I grew up with an outhouse for a bathroom. A three holer. Two adult size and one child size.

Hi Suzanne,
I found your blog a few days ago. I love it!! I also love your sense of humor and your sense of adventure!! I love old outhouses. We always had two seaters when I was young. The first one I remember had one taller seat and a little short seat, I suppose for the kids who went pee pee with mommy!!
I’m still catching up on everything on your site so I’ll be back.
Hope

Too funny, Suzanne. Your blog reminded me of a time when my oldest daughter needed to “go” while we were out snowmobiling. There were Port-a-Potties, but she refused to go in one. We had no other alternative. My husband took a picture of me trying to force her inside. LOL I wonder where it went…it would fit perfectly with your comments.

Love your blog. I hope you win the pulitzer prize on your outhouse exploits. Always bring a smile to my face. I am new to your blog but I spent over 2 1/2 hours reading all the past ones and your recipes.
Happy New Year from Patricia in Texas.
